Our way of life represents the way we think, behave, our attitude and day to day living. This entirely depends on us and how we want our life to be. There could be quite a few individuals who would be unable to decide what they want to be in life or what they want from their life.
Two major categories concerning the way we live our life is:
- The existential life, which is normally evident in those who just take life as it comes without pushing life in a particular direction.
- The idealistic life, which is very evident when an individual wishes to take life as far as they possibly can.
Many individuals also live at a vegetative level of existence, mostly according to a materialistic plan without any higher objective in life.
The question here is which is the kind of life you want to choose for yourself? Do you feel or have thought that you need to change the approach to life? If, your answer is yes; then Yoga can make this possible for you.
How can Yoga help me?
When you bring Yoga into your life, it will help you greatly in two ways:
- It will discipline you
- Help you becoming focused in life which will intern help to achieve your goal.
Yoga teaches us mental and physical discipline techniques to be incorporated into daily existence. Our day to day life is conditioned to the various external and internal influences. We tend to work under tremendous pressure. We have inexplicable urges and we fear or are worried all the time and are insecure most of the time. We are tensed about upcoming bills, payments, domestic duties and responsibilities, all of which can lead to emotional or mental disturbance. To make a real progress in life we need to break this vicious cycle which not only consumes us with physical illness but even would lead to psychological disorders. In such stages of life and otherwise also, Yoga helps to create a balance in our life. It is a combination of physical and psychological awakening by using its various conditioning techniques like Shavasana; Sukhasana, Chanting of Om, NishpandhBhava, etc. When we chose Yoga as a way of our life, we help ourselves to establish stability and harmony in our mind, body and soul.
Yogic techniques help in Purification, Strengthening, Steadiness, Patience/ Perseverance, Lightness, Direct Perception which helps to create a path for Freedom. This can be achieved by learning the 5 fold path of Yoga – Yama, Niyama, Kriya, Asana, Pranayama and Mitahara.
Yoga helps to facilitate flexibility not only in our body but also in our thinking patterns. It makes us aware of the present and the way we need to react in the various situations of life. Along with exercise, a Yogic diet is also very important to help us keep our body light and free from toxins. By saying free from toxins, we do not just mean the body free from toxins but also our mind free from toxic thoughts and actions. We are what we eat, think and talk.
